The village is believed to be the birthplace of Murugan, the son of Lord Siva and Goddess Parvati. The god is worshipped as "Sudharshana" (Charioteer) by the villagers. The story tells about a 24-year-old girl named Devaki (Meera Jasmine), niece of Mahalakshmi (Himaja), who lives in Kallada Kasi. Sudharsana, an employee of Mahalakshmi, tries to woo Devaki but she does not respond even though she likes him so much. Devaki has a strange habit which her mother tried to keep secret from the world. Devaki is believed to be possessed by a mysterious spirit. The film released worldwide on 9 September 2017. Kalyan wants the audience to know the secret of his niece's family and what happens between Devaki and Sudharshan. The story unfolds slowly with Kanchipuram’s traditional matters. The dialogue which reveals the secret is good because the screenplay connects well. The series of Devaki’s experiences are told in a non-linear format which makes it interesting for the viewer. The first half has an interesting plot but the second half suffers from poor scripting and predictable ending. The narration is slow with too many songs. The director could have used the songs to express Devaki’s feelings instead of explaining it with dialogue. The main highlight of the movie is the performance by Meera Jasmine. Her expressive dances and expressions during her "spirit" episodes are brilliant. Prabhas Sreenu (Sudharshan) also gave a stellar performance as he brought out his best in this role. Nasser (Mahalakshmi) played with integrity, while Jeeva (Malleswaram) showed remarkable potential as an actor despite limited opportunities in the script. cfa1e77820
